Motorcycles are built for an average rider and average use. Whether you use your bike for racing, track days, commuting, ride-outs or touring, you will soon find the limitations of your suspension.
Most motorcycles come from the factory with a baseline suspension setting. There is no specific set-up.The manufacturer cannot cater for all the variables i.e. weight of rider, sports, two-up touring, track days etc.
At ERS Racing we can tailor your bike to your needs.
As a result you will have better stability and more control of your bike and consequently a safer ride.
Power is nothing without control....... (thanks, Pirelli!)
The objective is to create maximum contact of tyre to tarmac. This means that you will get better wear out of your tyres and the bike will be more predictable, inspiring confidence in the combination of rider and motorcycle.
Eddie has been developing suspension for many years and has worked with numerous riders including Keith Amor, Bruce Birnie, Torquil Paterson and John MacDonald. All of them have benefited from his knowledge and understanding of suspension and motorcycle dynamics.
So what actually happens?
First, you bring yourself, your bike and your riding gear to ERS.
Eddie uses a formula based on many years of practical experience to set the 'sag' - how much weight is going through the springs. The total weight should be the same as when out on the bike.
The geometry is checked and reset as required. Compression, rebound and tyre pressures are checked and set.. Then you test ride your bike. If further adjustments are required they will be made until you are completely satisfied.
Experience means that the process takes a relatively short time. The pleasure of riding a properly set up bike is endless.
It is one of the most cost-effective ways of improving performance, safety and economy
The importance of suspension is as crucial on a road bike as it is on a race bike.
